Choose to hike-in or utilize helicopter access, which greatly maximises your fishing time and allows access to more remote and very seldom fished rivers. For those who have a good fitness and fishing skill level who want to experience the best our Lower North rivers have to offer, our backcountry provides amazing scenery, much larger fish and more sight-fishing opportunities. All this often doesn't come easy. New Zealand's mountainous terrain is rugged, wild and encompasses stunningly clear water and forest surroundings - the ultimate large trout recipe.
Experience the magic of sleeping within the New Zealand wilderness in comfortable tents or backcountry huts alongside the river valley. These huts are little havens for the backcountry fly fisher after an invigorating day in somewhat physically demanding wilderness trout country.
Let Johnny take care of the camp-out gear, superb backcountry food and meals without the demands of a heavy load on your back. Johnny is there to guide you, sherpa your gear and keep you safe. Your safety is the number one priority. A Personal Locator Beacon (PLB) , satellite communicator and a comprehensive first aid kit are carried at all times.
A full day includes guiding, 4WD vehicle transport pick-up from your accomodation and drop-off, wader/boot hire
stream-side lunch, snacks and refreshments. An additional campout fee on top of the daily guide rate is applied per night of stay.
If you require wader and boot hire I stock a full size range of quality breathable waders and good sturdy, supportive wading boots.
